HRH has left for the weekend, Kelly is in bed early and I still have a bellyful of pulled pork to digest. What to do, what to do? How about finishing my book with some island-themed Exotica? Yeah, I know. I’m lame.
Anyway, this evenings Exotica pleasure is the ‘Tavana’s Polynesia‘ by bandleader Jean Itchner.
All I know about Tavana really, is that he was an iconic Chief, head of the famous “Tavana’s Polynesian Spectacular”, showcased in Waikiki for over 27 years (this album is an example of those live performances) but now sustains himself as a tatau, (tattoo) artist using only a car battery as a power source for his tattoo gun.
Other than that, I got nuttin’…
Just a guy sitting’ around reading and listening to some Polynesian drums and wishing he had some poi.
